Abstract In the book Courting Disaster: How the Supreme Court is Usurping the Power of Congress and the People, it sets out to identify how our government has changed and how these changes affect us and our laws. Pat Robertson wants the people to see how the Supreme Court is abusing power. Robertson shows how the federal judges are not only abusing their power but reaching beyond the power they are given. Pat Robertson, 2014) . Robertson believes that the Supreme Court is taking the power away from the people and from Congress and is taking matters into their own hands. Robertson wrote this book in three parts which are a crisis of confidence, an out-of-control court and a prescription for change.â⬠Judges must have experience in jurisprudence, be ethical, above distrust, prudent in their personal behavior, highly disciplined, and guardians of the common good.â⬠The selection act clearly falls into the same appointing of judges, by Moses in the biblical book of Deuteronomy 1:9-18 (NLT). Robertson wants the American people to see the truth. He wants the people to see how the government use to be and how it has evolved to the present day. He sets out to answer such questions as, is the government and the Supreme Court abusing their powers and causing chaos within our system? This book is a real in depth look into our government and sets out to uncover the truth behind it all. This book offers a good view of the history of the Supreme Court as well.
